Georgia DECA Fall Leadership Development Conference in Athens 1/11/12- 2/11/12

-MANDATORY MEETINGS for all attendees: October 18,25 & 31 @ 6:40 am in Room 412
With Fall Leadership DECA members can experience the fun lifestyle of DECA events while staying in the local area. Members stay overnight at a local hotel (not to far from home) as they meet new people from the community and absorb new leadership advice and skills. Members will get their first opportunity to earn the DECA Statesmen Award which is given to members who pass a multiple-choice test based on basic information about the DECA organization. All NG DECA students are given quick and easy study guides to review the information. In addition, members are given the chance to listen to professional speakers and attend 4 development workshops packed with leadership tips and advice.

Region Competition
Experience DECA’s competition at the local level through region competition. The event is hosted at a local high school and starts after school on a Thursday and ends around 8 or 9PM that day. Members can dive into competition test, role-plays, and even a combination of the two. Members get their first chance to receive a DECA competition medal. The top 6 competitors receive a medal and qualify for state competition. Note: Students do not have to compete at region in order to take part in state competition. State Competition
Take DECA competition to the next level. Stay overnight in Downtown Atlanta (usually at the Marriott Marquis) with thousands of other DECA members from across the state. Advance your placement in a role-play, test, or combo from region competition. You can even compete in a state/international written event (also known as a manual). Members can also earn the Outstanding DECA Member Award by showing their active involvement in DECA or even run for a state officer position. International Competition
Take competition to the ultimate level! Be a part of the over 30,000 students that take part in DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC or International Competition). The 2013 ICDC will be held in Anehiem, California. Members travel to this location and stay for 4 to 5 days. While competing and taking part in DECA events and competitions, members are also given the oppportunity to explore this new area that they have traveled to. Members can attend local attractions and even theme parks (Disneyland and Universal!). Most important of all NG DECA members can go on stage in front of 30,000 plus members and advisors if they place top 20 (first round) or top 10 (final awards ceremony).
